History

The Newtron Group is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and owned by Newton B. Thomas. The company was founded by Thomas in 1973 as Newtron, a union instrumentation contractor. In 1981, Newtron began offering electrical construction, and in 1982, Triad Electric & Controls was formed to handle non-union electrical and instrumentation construction. After the formation of Triad, Newtron’s headquarters moved to Nederland, Texas. The Newtron Group was then formed as a holding company for Triad and Newtron. The Newtron Group grew, adding Triad Control Systems and Com Net Services to its family of companies in the 1990's. Newtron Heat Trace was formed in 2000 and joined a few years later by Newtron Mechanical. Most recently, The Newtron Group added NGI Technical Services as well as NGI National Constructors, which manages the National projects that are outside of the areas of the local Triad and Newtron offices. The Newtron Group's only non-construction company, Executive Aviation, is a fixed-based operator providing hangar space, fuel and aviation supplies.
